Spider-Verse 3: New Team Assemble By Gwen Stacy
In the suspenseful conclusion of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) faces a serious issue unable to return to his original Earth-1610 dimension.
He finds himself stranded on Earth-42, a reality with Lacking of a Spider-Man presence.
Captured by his living Uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) and a dangerous alternate version of himself, Miles deals with adversity.
Meanwhile, the Spider-Collective tries to locate him and exact payback for Breaking the “canon event” upholding multiversal stability.
Complicating matters, Miles’ home realm becomes a battleground, targeted by The Spot (Jason Schwartzman), a supervillain wielding dimension-hopping capabilities.
This foe’s powers endanger Miles’ deepest anxieties—his father’s mortality—and amplify the Spider-Collective’s greatest apprehensions of a collapsing multiverse.
Luckily, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) has formed a fresh group of Spider-folks, including fellow defectors from the Spider-Collective and a couple of familiar faces.
Together, they’ve united to locate and aid Miles in the upcoming sequel “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” (anticipated release date: March 29, 2024).
Although this team is newly formed and unnamed, we can gather some insights about it based on the members invited, their reasons for joining, and their potential roles in the trilogy’s conclusion.
Understanding Gwen’s Team Of Spiders
1. Spider-Women / Gwen Stacy
Gwen Stacy created this new team not just to rescue her friend, but also to make up for her role in getting him into this tough situation.
As a new member of the Spider-Collective, she followed their goal of safeguarding the “canon event.”
According to these rules, Miles’ dad, who’s a police captain, was fated to die — along with Gwen’s own father (Shea Whigham), for that matter.
Despite knowing this, she kept it hidden from Miles.
When she visited his universe, it drew him into the Spider-Collective’s world, where he’d uncover these hidden truths.
Gwen, on her side, did raise doubts with Spider-Collective leader Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac) about whether their actions were right.
As a result, she was ousted from the Spider-Collective and sent back to her own world.
Once she openly revealed herself as Spider-Woman to her father, he got motivated to quit his job as a police officer.
This step broke away from what was expected in the “canon” and encouraged Gwen to believe in saving Miles’ family and the multiverse.
With a makeshift device by Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya), Gwen could exit Earth-65.
She warned Miles’ father (Brian Tyree Henry) and mother (Luna Lauren Vélez) about their mysteriously missing son and then proceeded to form her new team.
2. Spider-Man / Peter B. Parker
Just like Gwen, Peter B. Parker is Familiar with both the recently introduced characters and the beloved ones from the initial film.
In “Across the Spider-Verse,” this Spider-Man is mainly a dad, and he ensures everyone is aware of it.
After overcoming his worries about being a parent in “Into The Spider-Verse,” Peter now grapples with being a dad to a Spider-Baby named Mayday Parker.
What’s more, it was Miles himself who demonstrated that being a dad wasn’t so frightening in the first place.
This makes it even more special that Peter is on his way to locate him.
3. Mayday Parker
Naturally, Peter isn’t leaving without his daughter, and Mayday definitely has much to discover about her spider abilities.
It appears she’s inherited her father’s powers, taking the energy of a Little child to a whole new level.
We hope Mayday gets to do more than just accompany her dad. In her moments in “Across the Spider-Verse.”
it’s obvious she somewhat understands her capabilities, as seen by her knowing grin while climbing on the ceiling, just like Spider-Man does.No matter what, fans can anticipate seeing her develop during this adventure.
4. Indian Spider-Man / Pavitr Prabhakar
The first different dimension Miles goes to is Earth-50101, the place where Pavitr Prabhakar (Karan Soni), also known as Spider-Man India, resides.
In the blended city of Mumbattan, which combines Mumbai and Manhattan, Pavitr stands out from other Spider-Men.
Not just because he uses yoyos instead of webs, but because he finds the superhero job simple.
He’s well-liked and cheerful, always ready to flaunt his impressive abs that he’s achieved without much exercise — he doesn’t want to get “too buff” — and his flawless hair without any products.
However, he’s only been Spider-Man for six months, so it’s possible he might start to find the job more difficult as he confronts more challenges.
One of the unfortunate events Miguel considers a crucial part of Spider-Man’s story, however, is prevented in Pavitr’s life because of Miles’ involvement.
Inspector Singh, who is like Gwen Stacy’s counterpart in Mumbattan named Gayatri Singh, was supposed to pass away as police captains connected to Spider-Man typically do.
However, Miles saved the Inspector’s life. The revelation that Gwen was actively trying to hinder this rescue on behalf of the Spider-Society is the first big indication of Gwen betraying Miles.
Considering that Miles directly assisted him and his loved ones, it’s logical why Pavitr would decide to leave the Spider-Society and join Gwen’s new team.
5. Spider-Byte / Margo Kess
Certainly one of the smartest Spider-Folks (and that’s saying something given how clever everyone here is).
Margo genuinely attempted to help Miles go back to his own universe safely using the “Go home machine.”
Unfortunately, due to forces beyond anyone’s control or understanding, the machine identified Miles’ DNA as originating from the universe where the spider that bit him initially came from.
If there’s one main idea common among Spider-Characters, it’s responsibility.
It’s quite likely that Margo might unfairly blame herself for Miles’ initial disappearance, carrying the weight of responsibility as you’d expect from a Spider-Person.
Margo certainly possesses significant power, and while she’s shown strong responsibility, that ongoing struggle is a constant for every spider hero.
6. Hobie Brown / Spider-punk
Hobie Brown, known as Spider-Punk, is quite a complex individual.
He’s a superhero who doesn’t really believe in the idea of heroes, an anarchist who still fits the “friends with a cop” part of Spider-Man’s story, and a person who doesn’t see himself as someone who works well with others.
Yet he’s both in a band and a part of the Spider-Society.
You might say he’s a bit contradictory (people have said similar things about successful punk rockers), but he’s a good person at heart.
This basic kindness makes him naturally cautious about the Spider-Society, and it also makes him an important member of Gwen’s team.
Even though he’s first introduced as someone competing with Miles for Gwen’s attention, Hobie is actually a strong supporter of Miles when it truly counts.
He assists Miles in escaping Miguel’s prison.
When Miguel is about to command the Spider-Society to fight against Miles, Hobie leaves the team and decides to avoid the whole situation.
While you might initially wish he stayed to help Miles escape the group of Spider-people, it turns out he’s doing something even more significant: he brings an unofficial universe-traveling watch to Captain Stacy.
This watch is what enables Gwen to gather her new team in the first place.
In “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” where there are plenty of impressive characters.
Spider-Punk is perhaps the one who stands out the most. It’s thrilling that he’s set to have a big role in “Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
7. Peter Benjamin Parker / Spider-Man Noir
If fans get to see Spider-Punk and the serious, no-nonsense Spider-Man Noir interact in “Beyond the Spider-Verse,” many will consider it a successful aspect of the movie.
Spider-Man Noir briefly appeared in “Across the Spider-Verse” but had a bigger role in “Into the Spider-Verse.”
He’s known for his darker sense of humor, his strong convictions, and his commitment to solving a Rubik’s cube even though he can’t see colors.
This kind of determination is exactly what will be crucial for a journey through space, time, and dimensions to locate a missing friend.
8. Peter Porker / Spider-Ham
Spider-Man is famous for his witty remarks, and that’s been talked about a lot on this list.
But when the story adds humor about animation in an animated tale, the familiar Spider-Humor becomes even more enjoyable.
Although Spider-Ham is mostly seen as a funny character in the initial Spider-Verse film, he surprisingly delivers some of the most touching lines in the entire movie.
In fact, one of his lines returns during a particularly emotional part for Miles.
With a mix of humor and emotion, here arrives Spider-Ham.
9. Peni Parker / SP//dr
This Spider-Character is as smart as Margo, and she’s got the robot to prove it.
Peni Parker comes with a full introduction done in an anime style, and she operates a robot with a sad backstory to fight crime.
Her story is very interesting.She’s one of the members in Gwen’s team who, like Gwen and Peter B. Parker, spent much of the movie believing in Miguel O’Hara and the Spider Society.
They fought against Miles to protect the storyline.
Maybe she’s dealing with a similar tough decision about the situation, much like how fans are seeing Gwen and Peter also struggle with it.
Will More New characters become part of their team?
Regarding the ending of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” these eight Spider-people, along with Miles, are on one side, while everyone else is on the other.
But will more heroes join their team in the next movie? The ultimate goal might be to shift the Spider-Society’s perspective on the storyline as a whole, though some members could be more open to this change than others.
Among all the newly introduced characters who aren’t yet part of Gwen’s group, there’s a good chance Jessica Drew (Issa Rae) will be the most willing to support their cause.
This version of Spider-Woman still collaborates with Miguel by the end of “Across the Spider-Verse.”
However, she mentored Gwen despite Miguel’s opposition to the younger Spider-Woman joining his society.
Jessica might want to make things right for her student, similar to how Gwen aims to redeem her friend.
A few notable Spider-Men haven’t even appeared in the large Spider-Society scenes yet, and they could potentially show up in “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
There’s already talk that Takuya Yamashiro, the Japanese tokusatsu Spider-Man, might make an appearance in a Spider-Verse film.
Other remarkable Spideys yet to be seen include the Broadway musical’s Spider-Man from “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” the Spiders-Man composed of spiders, and naturally, Tom Holland’s rendition from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Could these potential new characters become allies of Gwen’s team, or would they be adversaries?
