7 Different Conceptual Designs Revealed for Angelina Jolie’s Character in Eternals
The art book “Marvel Studios’ Eternals: The Art Of The Movie” unveiled seven unused concepts for Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Thena, which did not make it to her first appearance in the MCU.
The design ultimately showcased in the film consisted of a regal white robe-style armor, complemented by a tiara, enhancing the majestic appearance of the warrior ensemble.
The ideas for Jolie’s superhero costume varied greatly, featuring different colors, styles, and levels of magnificence.
These designs seemed to take cues from warriors and soldiers throughout real-world history.
Most Eternals wore subdued-colored outfits, but Thena’s white attire stood out.
Some designs featured darker tones with hints of green and purple.
The red robe adorning Thena bears a resemblance to Roman design, accompanied by armor and bracelets that complement the look.
Among these ensembles, one outfit featured a significantly more robe-centric design, which seemingly would be less practical for Thena’s agile combat style.
A form-fitting green suit with extended sleeves and pants was also under consideration for Jolie, devoid of any robes or trailing fabric in this iteration.
In at least one discarded design for her costume, Thena appeared to sport a short hairstyle.
Several of the numerous Thena designs featured a gilded armored appearance, somewhat reminiscent of the Amazonians in the DCEU and Gal Gadot’s suit in “Wonder Woman 1984.”
A few of these iterations even included helmets and faceplates, which further contributed to the overall armored and ancient warrior visual style.
Throughout “Eternals,” Thena showcased an array of weapons, as depicted in the concept art, ranging from swords and daggers to spears and twin blades.

When Can We Expect Angelina Jolie’s Thena to Make a Return to The MCU?
At the conclusion of their MCU introduction, seven out of Arishem’s initial ten Eternals remained alive, with Angelina Jolie’s Thena being one of them.
As the narrative wrapped up, Thena, along with Druig and Makkari, embarked on a cosmic journey in pursuit of other Eternals.
This journey eventually led them to encounter Harry Styles’ Eros and Pip the Troll.
Given the unresolved situation that left Thena and her companions in a cliffhanger at the conclusion of their first film, it’s probable that Jolie’s Marvel superhero will not reappear until Eternals 2.
While an official sequel confirmation is still pending, the actress has hinted at its progress, and there’s widespread anticipation that the movie will come during Phase 6.
The precise timing of Thena and the other Eternals’ next appearances remains uncertain at this point.
However, there’s a possibility that they might make their presence felt in projects like “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” or “Secret Wars,” aiding Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in confronting Kang and his numerous Variants.
